- No cry-it-out required
- Coach by chat, text or email
Most of what you have read about baby sleep is somebody’s opinion.
We built Lamplight on the published research instead — and on saying “we don’t know” when that is the true answer.
Every baby wakes at night
Overnight video studies show the number of times a baby actually wakes barely changes across the first year. What changes is whether they call for you. That is the thing we work on — calmly, at your pace.
The normal range is enormous
At six months, healthy babies sleep anywhere from under nine hours a day to seventeen. Comparing your baby to an app’s “target” is comparing a person to the midpoint of a very wide range.
Your sleep counts too
One protected four-to-five-hour block of sleep for you is often the fastest, best-supported change a family can make. It is in every plan we write.
A plan for your baby — not a template with a name pasted in.
Ten minutes of honest answers about where your baby sleeps, how they fall asleep, what a typical night looks like, what you are willing to do and what you are not. From that we write a plan that fits: an age-appropriate routine, a day-and-nap rhythm, the settling approach you chose, a night-by-night guide for the first two weeks, and a safe-sleep check of your set-up.
- Indexed to your baby’s age (corrected, if born early)
- Gentle by default — you choose how much fussing is okay
- Reviewed by a human before it reaches you
- A clear “when to call your pediatrician” card
- Printable, and yours to keep
Someone steady to talk to at 3am.
The coach has read your questionnaire and your plan. Ask it anything — the bedtime that suddenly stopped working, the nap that vanished, the trip to grandma’s, the teething night — and it answers in plain words, grounded in the same research library your plan came from, always inside safe-sleep guidance.
It also knows what it is not. It does not diagnose, it never recommends medication or supplements, and when something needs a doctor it says so and tells you what to ask.
Reach it however is closest to hand: the chat on your account page, a text message, or an email. Same coach, same memory of your family.

Why I built Lamplight
I started this after our own long nights, when every article I found contradicted the last one and none of them told me what the research actually said. I spent my career in healthcare operations, where “show me the evidence” is the whole job — so that is what I did here. Lamplight is the plan I wish someone had handed us: honest about the normal range, careful about safety, kind about the choices families make, and clear about when it’s time to call the pediatrician instead.

What exactly is in the Personalized Sleep Plan, and what does it cost?
A written plan, usually fifteen to twenty pages, built from your questionnaire: what is normal at your baby's age, a safe-sleep check of your set-up, a bedtime routine, a day-and-nap rhythm, the settling approach you chose (or the gentlest one that fits), a night-by-night guide for the first two weeks, a section on your own sleep, and a "when to call your pediatrician" card. It is written for your baby, your home and your limits — not a template with a name pasted in. The plan on its own is $50; the Plan + Coach bundle is $100 and includes your first month of the AI Sleep Coach.
How is the plan made? Is it written by AI?
Your answers are turned into a first draft by our AI plan writer, which works from a research library we compiled — several hundred published sources on infant sleep, safe sleep and what the evidence does and doesn't support. Then a human reads it before it is sent to you, checks it against your answers, and edits anything that needs it. You will normally have it within one business day.
Will you make me do cry-it-out?
No. The questionnaire asks how you feel about crying and what you are not willing to do, and the plan is built around those answers. Many families choose a no-crying approach. For babies under six months there is no sleep training of any kind — only foundations — because those methods have never been tested that young.
Is this medical advice?
No. Lamplight provides parenting education — routines, environment, comfort techniques and expectation-setting — and homemaking support for tired families. We are not medical providers, we do not diagnose or treat anything, and we will always send you to your pediatrician when something needs one. Your plan includes a clear list of the things that should go to a doctor rather than to us.
What is the AI Sleep Coach, really?
A chat-based coach, available any hour, that has read your questionnaire and your plan. It is built on a large language model from Anthropic (Claude), with a long set of instructions written by us: the research it may draw on, the safe-sleep rules it must never soften, the questions it must route to a pediatrician, and the tone it should take with a parent at 3am. It is not a person and it is not a doctor. It is very good at steady, specific, research-grounded encouragement when you need it.
A little light for the long nights.
A written plan for your baby, your home and your limits from $50 — or $100 with your first month of the AI Sleep Coach included.
Parenting education and comfort support — not medical advice.
