What exactly is in the Personalized Sleep Plan, and what does it cost?
A written plan, usually twenty pages, built from your questionnaire. It opens with a one-page fridge sheet — your start night, bedtime, wake time, nap times, the routine with clock times, the exact words at lights-out, tonight's response and the night-feed windows — and then gives the detail behind it: why this approach for your baby, bedtime and 2 a.m. step by step, a table of the first 14 nights with the exact check intervals or chair position for each one, days and naps, decision points on nights 3, 5, 7 and 14, a safe-sleep check of your set-up, a section on your own sleep, troubleshooting and a "when to call your pediatrician" card. It is written for your baby, your home and your limits — not a template with a name pasted in. The plan on its own is $79; the Plan + Coach bundle is $129 and includes 90 days of the AI Sleep Coach.
How is the plan made? Is it written by AI?
Your answers are turned into a first draft by our AI plan writer, which works from a research library we compiled — several hundred published sources on infant sleep, safe sleep and what the evidence does and doesn't support. The plan is generated and delivered to your account automatically, usually within a few minutes, with a link sent to your inbox. If your answers raise a health or safety flag, the plan addresses it directly and tells you plainly what belongs with your pediatrician rather than with us.
Will you make me do cry-it-out?
No. The questionnaire asks how you feel about crying and what you are not willing to do, and the plan is built around those answers. Many families choose a no-crying approach. For babies under six months there is no sleep training of any kind — only foundations — because those methods have never been tested that young.
Is this medical advice?
No. Lamplight provides parenting education — routines, environment, comfort techniques and expectation-setting — and homemaking support for tired families. We are not medical providers, we do not diagnose or treat anything, and we will always send you to your pediatrician when something needs one. Your plan includes a clear list of the things that should go to a doctor rather than to us.
What is the AI Sleep Coach, really?
A chat-based coach, available any hour, that has read your questionnaire and your plan. It is built on a large language model from Microsoft (Azure OpenAI), with a long set of instructions written by us: the research it may draw on, the safe-sleep rules it must never soften, the questions it must route to a pediatrician, and the tone it should take with a parent at 3am. It is not a person and it is not a doctor. It is very good at steady, specific, research-grounded encouragement when you need it.
What does the coach cost, and can I cancel?
The Plan + Coach bundle is $129, once, and includes 90 days of the coach. Nothing renews — when the 90 days are up the coach simply pauses. If you want to keep going, plan holders can add the monthly coach from their account page for $19 a month; it cancels in one click — no calls, no forms — and you keep access until the end of the month you have paid for.
Can I get the coach without the plan?
No — and that is deliberate. The coach is only as good as what it knows about your baby, and everything it knows comes from your questionnaire and your plan. So it comes with the plan: 90 days in the bundle, then $19 a month from your account page if you want to keep it.
Can I email the coach instead of using the website?
Yes. From your account page, switch on email coaching and confirm the address you want to write from. After that, an email to the coach gets a reply in the same thread, the same way the website chat does — same coach, same memory of your family. Email replies are for sleep questions only and are never the right channel for an emergency — call 911.
What ages do you work with?
Birth to about 24 months. For babies born early we use the due date rather than the birth date for every expectation in the plan.
Do you follow safe-sleep guidelines?
Yes, without exception: the American Academy of Pediatrics safe-sleep recommendations are built into every plan and every coach conversation — on the back for every sleep, a firm flat surface with nothing else in it, in your room on their own surface for at least the first six months, no weighted sleep products, no sleep in swings or car seats at home. We will never soften those to make a plan more convenient.
We co-sleep. Will you judge us?
No. We will tell you plainly what the guidance says and why, screen for the specific things that multiply risk, and help you toward a separate sleep surface at your pace. Families who tell us the truth get better plans.
What if my baby has reflux, eczema, was premature, or has a diagnosis?
Tell us in the questionnaire. Those things change what a plan can responsibly say, and some of them mean your pediatrician needs to be involved before any settling work. The plan will say so clearly and stay conservative.
What is your refund policy?
If you have not yet submitted the questionnaire, email us within 14 days for a full refund of the plan. Once a plan has been written for you it cannot be refunded, but if it misses the mark we will revise it. The coach subscription can be cancelled at any time and is not refunded for partial months.
Is Lamplight a sleep consultant?
It does the work a sleep consultant does — asks about your baby, your nights, your set-up and your limits, then writes a plan for your family and supports you while you follow it — but it does it online and automatically, in minutes, for a fraction of the usual price. There is no person on a call. For most families with an ordinary sleep problem that is the right trade; for some it is not, and we say so on this page.
How much does an infant sleep consultant usually cost?
Published 2026 price guides put a single consultation call at roughly $100–$300, a written plan with a week or two of support at about $300–$600, and longer packages at $500–$2,000 or more; overnight in-home help runs higher still. Lamplight is $79 for the plan and $129 for the plan plus 90 days of the coach, paid once. We keep a plain-English guide to consultant pricing in the Journal.
Do you offer in-home or overnight support?
No. Everything is online: the questionnaire, the plan, and the coach on your account page and by email. If you want someone physically present, hire a local consultant — and look for one who follows the AAP safe-sleep policy without exception and does not offer sleep training under six months.
Do you work with families outside Illinois?
Yes — across the United States. Lamplight Baby Sleep is based in Bloomington, Illinois, but nothing about the service depends on where you live. The plan is written for your baby and your home, wherever that is.
What age range do you cover?
From newborn to about two years, using corrected age for babies born early. Under six months the plan is foundations only — routine, light and dark, feeding check, safe sleep and your own rest — because settling methods have never been tested that young. From six months, the plan matches an approach to your baby and to how you feel about crying.
Is the plan really personalized, or is it a template?
It is written from your answers, and it reads that way: your baby's name and age, your actual bedtime and wake time, the approach you chose, the things you told us you will not do, and the specific safety changes for your set-up. It opens with the strategy — the three to six moves we are making and why each one fits your family — rather than a recap of what you typed. Two families with different answers get materially different plans.
